Yanga drop Ngoma, Bossou from squad’s trip to Comoro
Yanga will take on Ngaya in their preliminary round, first leg clash away at the Stade de Moroni tomorrow. They were due to leave early this morning to Moroni.
The club’s General Secretary, Charles Boniface Mkwasa, told journalists yesterday that seven players will not be included in the list of 30-strong contingent to Moroni due to various reasons. “A total of 20 players and eight members of the technical bench plus two officials will leave tomorrow (today) ahead of the match,” Mkwasa said.
He said Zimbabwean striker, Ngoma and Malimi Busungu will not travel with the team because they are sick, while defender Vincent Andrew is serving three yellow cards suspension picked last year during the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Togolese central defender, Bossou, holding midfielder, Pato Ngonyani and goalkeeper Beno Kakolanya will also not make the trip and will wait for the return leg encounter.
Yanga are scheduled to face their opponents in the return leg match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam two weeks later. Mkwasa named players leaving for Moroni as Deogratius Munishi, Ally Mustafa, Deus Kaseke, Haruna Niyonzima, Thaban Kamusoko, Amissi Tambwe, Mwinyi Haji, Saimon Msuva and Geoffrey Mwashuiya.
Others are Saidi Juma Makapu, Hassan Ramadhani, Juma Mahadhi, Yusuph Mhilu, Obrey Chirwa, Nadir Haroub, Justine Zulu, Kelvin Yondani, Juma Abdul, Oscar Joshua and Emmanuel Martin.
He said the delegation will be led by Head Coach, George Lwandamina and his assistants Noel Mwandila, Edward Bavu, Juma Pondamali, Juma Zakaria Omary, Hafidhi Saleh, Mohamed Mwaliga and Jacob Onyango.
Officials to accompany the team are Mussa Kisoki, who will represent the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and Paul Malume. “After arrival, we expect out team to attend light training session tomorrow (today) evening at the venue where the match will be played,” Mkwasa said.
Should Yanga progress to the next round, they will face the aggregate winner of another preliminary tie between Rwanda’s APR and Zanaco of Zambia in the first round match in March, next year. The overall winner of the twolegged match will proceed into the tournament’s group stage.
